The hospice nurse has just seen dad again today. She has given us some great tips on turning him and using pillows around his body to prevent bed sores. We are now using a syringe to give dad water and this is working nicely. It is very hard for him to swallow, so we turn him on his side beforehand and this helps. The nurse hopes to visit each day now and is talking with the GP to ensure we are providing dad with everything possible to continue to keep him comfortable and free of pain.
Many thanks again for all the love and support from everyone!

Dear Ian, Jill, Janet and Sue-Ellen
ReplyDeleteKay and I send you our love and best wishes at this difficult time. Rest assured that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I was reading again about what I have written about my childhood and youth. Our family enjoyed many happy holidays with my Uncle George, Aunty Shelagh and Ian at Armitage in Pine Close. So many happy times. I remember Ian and I going to watch a cricket test match at Newlands with Australia playing South Africa. There were also many drives around the peninsula in the trusty old Chevvy and some great swims in the surf at "Christian" beach at Muizenberg. Happy times, indeed.
Love
Brian
